    Design for manufacturing. Your product design needs to be reviewed and, if needed, adjusted to the realities of mass production. That helps reduce risks related to quality, delays, and cost over-runs.
    A structured New Product Introduction (NPI) process. The project needs to go through pre-defined validations before before it goes into the next phase. For example, make sure the product design is validated before cutting steel for tooling.
    Small scale production first. We always start with at least one pre-production pilot run for a new product, before going into mass production. Certain issues only become visible at this stage, and they need to be tackled before large quantities are released on the shop floor.
